When you commit to Christ you “take on His easy yoke” (Matthew 11:29), but if you commit your life to a non-Christian spouse, you take on an “unequal yoke” and it will be anything but easy. But this is more serious than your quality of life. Is it alright for a Christian to marry an atheist, Satanist or a Muslim? Is it okay to marry outside the faith at all? Some say that a Christian marrying a non-Christian may be “inexpedient, unwise, fraught with peril or extremely dangerous spiritually,” but that it is not a sin. We will see, however, that the Scriptures in general, and 2 Corinthians 6:14-18 in particular teach that a Christians should marry only within the faith and to marry outside the faith is contrary to the Lord’s will. Most scholars conclude that either directly or indirectly 2 Corinthians 6:14-18 teaches this. Today we will begin a three part investigation of this matter.
